Understanding Anxiety and Panic
When the nervous system learns to stay braced for what might go wrong, anxiety can begin to feel like a constant background hum. For some, this can spike into waves of panic that feel intense, disorganizing, or overwhelming.
You may find yourself scanning for danger, overthinking, or feeling on edge without a clear cause. Even when things look fine on the outside, your system may still be operating as if something is not safe.
When Anxiety Starts to Take Over
Over time, anxiety can begin to shape how you move through the world.
You may notice:
You feel constantly on edge or unable to relax
You overthink decisions or interactions
You feel responsible for how others feel
You push yourself to keep functioning while feeling internally strained
For some, this builds into panic, where your system becomes overwhelmed and it can feel like something is seriously wrong, even if you cannot explain why.
Understanding Anxiety as a Nervous System Response
Anxiety is not random or a personal failure. It is often the result of a nervous system shaped by prolonged stress or experiences of unsafety.
When your system has learned to stay alert, it does not simply turn that off when circumstances change. It continues to anticipate and prepare, even when there is no immediate threat.
How I Work with Anxiety and Panic
In working with anxiety, your past is important, but our work does not stop at understanding what happened. We focus on how these patterns are living in the present, where change becomes possible.
Part of the work is learning to notice these patterns in real time and gradually build your capacity for regulation. Not by forcing change, but by helping your system gradually relearn what it feels like to be safe.
